So I saw a trailer for this, looks freaken kewl as all get out, I mean it's romans and killing, what could be better.

And (which made me think of Amus) it has Lucy Lawless as one of the main characters. You know... Zena warrior princess.

Heard her on an interview about the show, and it sounds pretty good.

Yeah doesn't that look awesome. And it's produced by Rob Tappert and Sam Rami, which is probably why Lucy Lawless is in it. Still it looks awesome.

This show is okay. Its a complete rip off of 300. The only thing missing is red capes and shields. Oh and you see a lot more penis. I'm sure that is something everyone can be happy about.

Having watched a bunch of these, it's more like Gladiator than 300. Which makes sense, as Gladiator was a ripoff/spoof of the Sparticus story anyways.

Na it is both, the beginning story is very 300ish, pit is very Gladiator, and filming is disgustingly 300

So Plot is Gladiator and Fight/blood scenes are very 300?

Yeah I could go with that.

I've only watched the first episode so far, but my first impression is that this thing is very low budget and its main saving grace is the lovely amount of bare breasts shown gratuitously all over the place. Mmmm...boobies....

The other episodes are better. It's like all TV series, you have to watch 3 episodes before you can really judge it, if you are at all on the fence or close to it.

It's not amazing though, but I thought the story is interesting. I'm interested in seeing what happens next.

I don't see why 300 is a bad thing to emulate for fight scenes. The fight scenes in 300 were sick.

The only thing that was really bad about 300 was the "monsters." That wasn't in the comic and looked dumb in the movie. But the rest of it is great.

It also pissed the Iranians off which can't hurt.

They just put out the latest episode on netflix. It's interesting in that Bartilius (or whatever his name is) is a very very bad guy, but you don't mind as much cause he's pretty reasonable when it comes to Sparticus and puts up with a lot of crap cause he thinks he can get some use out of him. Bad guy you like, but not how you like Dexter in Dexter.... thats a whole other thing on a different channel.

He's a slaver... but he's still a fairly small scrabbling man in a big rough world. It's hard to hate him because he's doing mostly what he needs to survive. He lives in harsh times.

Ya I won't complain about the fight scenes I like them, but more as an observation they are pretty clearly taking their style from 300

yeah some of them are over the top in the overly dramatic pause screen slow motion spurts / fountains of blood. But I don't mind it's entertaining in the way that gladiatorial sports where meant to be.

They only slow down because it's awesome. Seriously, do you want them to just go normal speed when he jams a spear in someone's mouth and out the back of their head? No.

Slow mo! It's very stylized but it's only to revel in the awesomeness.

Hah that was on the latest episode. Pretty kewl stuff that scene. Though the Hulk Hogan thing is starting to get a little over used. You know, where he is all beat up, going to loose, everyone thinks this is the end, Then suddenly he gets all huffy and rules ass over everyone.

I think every fight so far has been that way. He needs to rule ass from start, to finish.
