This is my list of books that from the very first I just had to finish the rest, and loved every book along the way:
- The Watches (NightWatch, DayWatch, Twilight Watch, Final Watch) I highly recommend giving this a read if you haven't already.
- Dexter Yepp another series I can't get enough of. And I really like all the differences and tie-ins between the books and the ShowTime Series
- Hyperion Series Dan Simmons (one of those Hugo people) Sci-Fi series that is pretty much the best damn sci-fi series there ever will be, I can guarantee it.
- the Word and the Void series These are by Terry Brooks (that Shannarra guy) and are a modern fantasy series, kinda like the watch books. Modern times with wizards, witches, monsters and what have you. A dang good read
- DeathGate Cycle in my opinion Margret Weis and Tracy Hickmans best series (them dragonlance writers) that they've ever done together.
If this was a top Ten list I'd add OtherLand A Sci-Fi Series by Tad Williams (the memory , sorrow, and thorn guy) and while he does similiar stuff where he puts his characters in very tough situations, they seem to cope and overcome them a bit better, and faster then in the other series
Also would be the Enders Game/Shadow series but those don't look to have an "End" in sight
I'd throw in the Illiad and Odessys books by Dan Simmons, a very kewl twist on the good old Hommer classic. but it's not really a series if it's just two books is it?
The Bellgriad and that other series ( like what? 12 in each of them) I reads those in highschool and liked em, got me into fantasy fiction... well that and:
the Xanth series, somethign about Peirs Anthony books, and copious amounts of puns
